The
year 2012 has just started but there have been so many activi-ties
during the past few weeks that it is difficult to report on which
events to write about. I’ll start with a financial activity, the
"Burning of the Mortgage" for Golden Lakes Village Phase
"A" that took place on Wednesday evening two weeks ago.
There was a packed house of Phase "A" residents
attending, which started with a greeting from the Association
President, Bernice Goldman. Hy Kaplan, one of the residents
of Phase "A" who has lived here about 30 years, was to
be the next speaker, talking about some of the history of our
community. Unfortunately, his wife Bea was ill and he was
unable to attend. In his place, yours truly was asked to speak.
After a general greeting, I mentioned that many of the
accomplishment that has been made in our Village was because of
the influence of Hy. Skipping around, thanks was given to the
volunteers that helped in the setting up and serving of dinner,
the vocal group, headed by Toni Paige, singing "The
Twelve Proposals Made By the Board of Directors" (in the same
manner that the Twelve Days of Christmas is sung), and dinner
served under the direction of our Social Director, Gina Moss
and her staff. After dinner the "Burning of the
Mortgage" was held outside the Social Hall, under the
directions of Bill Wilder, who started the fire. The papers
were thrown into the flames and a great vocal shout was heard.
"Free, free at last from those monthly payments!!!!!"
(Just wait till we need another very big project.) Dancing,
singing and a grand time was held by all. |

Golden Lakes Village Phase "A". Over 80 people in
attendance had a great time.
